Final Project Proposal

For my final project I plan on breaking down Vivaldi's 'Motion of the Four Seasons'. This popular work depicts the four seasons solely through audio. Each of the four motions creates the feeling of a particular season (the movement's title is the season represented), capturing a close to universal event that is encountered throughout the world. The music acts as the narrative, embodying the seasons meticulously. This feat has been attempted by numerous master composers, yet Vivaldi's final product trumps others. Each movement originated as a Sonnet, written by Vivaldi himself. By shifting mediums, Vivaldi transforms a mediocre text into a classic masterwork, smashing all questionable barriers between the distinction of an audio medium and its original text.

A Modest Proposal (and by modest I mean short)

For the final project, I have chosen to analyze tabletop wargames, specifically the game Warmachine by Privateer Press. Specifically, I will be focusing on how gameplay and game balance affects how narrative functions within the system, and how narrative affects the same. General tropes of tabletop wargames may also be explored.

Final Project Proposal

For my final project, I was immediately drawn to the creative option. I would like to create a short choose your own adventure story that was not just designed to be read by children. I was thinking that instead of having just two options, the reader is given three or even four different choices on page options to go to from the current page they are reading. I also though it would be cool if instead of blindly making decisions, there would be riddles incorporated into the story that the reader would have to make decisions based off of, to give a sense that the reader is actually making decisions in the story. For my analysis of this story, I will map out all of the possible ending out comes as we did for the choose your own adventure assignment and also go into detail about the specifics of the endings and details in my story.
